Besides their daily responsibilities within MAESONS, Maeson and Lindsey Bennett (founders & owners of MAESONS) actively contribute to the development of the barber profession. Since 2024, they have been collaborating with ANKO (the industry association), educational institutions, the professional field, and trade unions on updating the qualification dossier for Haircare for barbers, hairstylists, and salon managers.
This qualification dossier forms the basis for the content of accredited MBO (vocational) programs at levels 2, 3, and 4, including the barber training program. It describes the professional skills, knowledge, and attitude a barber or hairstylist needs to start practicing.
After that, the qualification dossier is submitted by SBB to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, which is responsible for officially establishing the MBO programs. The updated qualification dossier will take effect starting the 2026–2027 school year.
On top of that, Maeson and Lindsey, by invitation of ANKO, have recently become active members of advisory policy committees within the industry. They contribute ideas and provide advice on themes such as entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, and the labour market. Their appointment as committee members is valid through June 30, 2027.
In this way, MAESONS makes a valuable contribution to the future and quality of the barber profession. They also play an important role in raising industry standards.
